Dear child,
Have you ever heard that God is in control of everything, and so things like natural disasters, diseases, or wars are His way of getting our attention, and that He uses these events to get us to "turn from our wicked ways," etc.?
It might sound reasonable, even appealing to a particular way of thinking. But I'm here to tell you it's wrong thinking.
Instead, think about this: Jesus said, "he who's seen me as seen the Father."
Look at Jesus' life - did he create natural disasters, afflict people with disease, or start wars? No, He did the opposite, didn't He? He showed more care and love for the most unloved people in society. The "sinners". And He healed people over and over again. And He raised people from the dead! This…this is what a Father's love is about.
Think about my love for you. Would I ever bring hurt and pain to you? Certainly not! And how much more does Jesus love us? So much that He gave himself up for us. Not because we're special but because He is special. At best, my love is just a shadow of His love for you. A Father's love is unending, unbreakable, for always and always. No matter what.
Love,
Dad
