But is it true

Hey kiddo,

What if I told you that some things you learn in school are untrue?

When I was your age, I learned a lot of things that turned out to be false. For example, they taught me that the world was heading for a new ice age. Crazy, right?

And then, a few years later, I was taught that the world was so polluted that we would have to live underground soon. I still remember a movie that my teacher showed us. It was about a boy who dared to go outside and see the ruined world. It was terrifying! This was long before WALL-E came out. And guess what? We’re still living above ground. Surprise!

But that’s not all. Teachers also taught that the Soviet Union would take over the world, that President Reagan would start a nuclear war, and that Japan would become the world’s superpower. And the world is overpopulated with people, or would be soon. Actually, this last one is still spread in some circles.

You probably know that none of those things happened or ever will. I could give you more examples, but you get the idea. I wonder why the teachers wasted our time on those topics. Maybe they could have taught us something useful instead.
