My child,
I hope my writing will encourage you in everyway. I'm sharing what I'm learning about Jesus, and what I've discovered is that He is better than I imagined. His goodness is beyond measure. I am safe and secure in Him. And I know you are, too.
You know I talk about Jesus a lot, and that's because He is the best news ever! How can that be? Well, let's talk about His forgiveness. I've heard lots of people talk about Jesus' forgiveness being one thing or another, but not complete and not for eternity, at least not unless we work at it. I'm confident in saying it is complete and I can't do anything to undo or mar what He has accomplished, and I can’t do anything to “maintain” it. It’s done.
The Holy Spirit affirms this Truth, and the peace that passes all understanding washes over me, and my Hope is renewed.
The answers are right there in the Bible, and they are beautiful, humbling, and awe inspiring. When you think about Jesus, are you filled with wonder and awe, like me?
I know many people mistakenly believe different things about what Jesus death on the cross represents, and often forget about what his Resurrection means, too. It seems humans have a strong inclination to chip away at the Truth of the Gospel, and replace it with a man-centered reconciliation with God. But let's cut through the malarkey and get to what Jesus has done. Because the Gospel is about Him, and what He has accomplished.
We can't make ourselves perfect and presentable to God, our Creator. Our "good, clean living" means nothing when it comes to forgiveness. Jesus did that, for us. And because He's is God, He was able to do it right on the first try, and it's good for eternity:
Hebrews 10:14 - For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.
Let's drink that in. Just meditate on that for a full minute. Ah, this is so good. But wait…what does it mean, "those who are sanctified"? Sanctified just means those who have been set apart and made holy. And who are set apart and made holy? Those that have placed their trust in Jesus, and His works. That is the plain and simple truth.
But for how long? For all time. All time is a mighty long time. In a word, forever.
There is so much more to discover, this is just a taste. I love you and I'm excited to share more with you soon.
Love,
Dad
