Hi kids,
Jesus said that when we put our trust in Him, we will be born again. He contrasted this new birth, the birth of the spirit, with our old birth, which is to be born of water, or our physical human birth. Sadly, in our first birth we are born spiritually dead because we're born into the family line of Adam and Eve, which is under the curse of death as the result of them choosing to live under their own wisdom and power, instead of dependence on God, their Creator. And this rebellion led to their death, and the death of all their descendants. But I've got Good News. To break this curse, God chose to die on our behalf, and by doing so, He also offers us new life. As the Bible says, "the wages (or payment) of Sin is death." And Jesus died. He received the payment.
God knew all this before time, before He created the world. He knew their sin would lead to His death. And He did it all anyway. Like one of my favorite songs asks, "What kind of God would choose to save?"
It makes me wonder, "What kind of God would choose to create?"
I mean, what kind of God, knowing beforehand what His creation would do, and that He'd actually need to become one of His creation…and die, in order to satisfy both His perfect Justice and Mercy, would do just that?
That's a different kind of Love, isn't it?
Love,
Dad
